Connecting Our Youth to Their Legacy.
Join us for a beautiful, interactive Ancestral Remembrance Community Dance & Drum Workshop created to help young people explore, honor, and celebrate the lives, traditions, and cultural legacies of our beloved Ancestors.
In partnership with DJAPO Cultural Arts Institute , youth will experience ancestral remembrance through African dance, drumming, movement, rhythm, and cultural education.
Together, we will create a welcoming space for young people to connect with where they come from, learn about the stories carried through their families, and understand why remembering our Ancestors matters.
Bring Your Ancestor With You
Each participant is invited to bring one photograph of an Ancestor they would like to honor.
This may be a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, family elder, or another beloved person within their lineage who has transitioned.
The photograph will help participants connect more personally with the experience as we honor the people, stories, and legacies that came before us.
A Special Gift for Our Youth
Every child who participates in the workshop will receive a scholarship to attend the Ancestral Remembrance Gala on February 21, 2027 , giving them an opportunity to continue this beautiful journey of cultural celebration and ancestral honor.
